California-based rock band Weezer is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's self-titled debut album, also known as the "Blue Album," with a North American tour set to kick off in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sept. 4.
The band will play "Weezer" in full along with other fan favorites and deep cuts. Weezer will be joined by opening acts The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr.
A 1990s classic, "Weezer" produced hits such as "Buddy Holly” and "Say It Ain’t So" which, aside from becoming anthems of that decade, have earned hundreds of millions of streams and endless placements in TV shows and movies.
The band, formed in Los Angeles in 1992, currently consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, lead guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums), Brian Bell (rhythm guitar, backing vocals, keyboards) and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals). Weezer has sold 10 million albums in the U.S. and over 35 million records worldwide.
Presale tickets for anyone on Weezer's mailing list go on sale Wednesday at noon local time. Citi cardmembers will also have access to presale tickets beginning at 9 a.m. local time on the same day. General tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time and can be purchased at weezer.com.
